Megaglitch is a self-representing electronic music composer and producer based in Europe. Megaglitch’s love for writing synth-based music materialized while learning to play the guitar at 17.

During his late teens and into his early twenties, MG began experimenting with rock and electro-pop, producing a few EPs, as well as playing at local venues in and around South West England.

In 2006, Fabz gave up writing and producing music to pursue a career as a visual artist and designer, and later, web design. Having a family also put producing music on hold for a long time.

It wasn’t until 2015 that he picked up the guitar again but still finding time to write new music was a struggle.

Finally, during an unpredictable time in 2020, when the world was heading into a lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Megaglitch was born and Fabz’s love for creating music was re-ignited.

“I had spent the past 12 years or so working on my freelance web design and content creation business. When lockdown came, all that came to a grinding halt, and I was left with a lot of time on my hands. No one was hiring freelancers during the pandemic, so I started writing and composing some new music.”

He continues with –

“I had to rediscover everything and refresh my understanding of using DAWs, VSTs, synth emulators, plugin effects, sequencers, mixers, etc. So many of these things now are digital, and most of these weren’t in abundance during the late 90s and early 2000s. I know I’m showing my age now, but so much has changed since I last dabbled with knobs and faders. But, again, I had a lot of fun learning, and long may that continue”.

“I remember recording my first few songs using an old Tascam 488 MkII cassette recorder back in the early 2000s. And then later moved to a Roland VS880EX digital workstation. I loved that thing. I think I eventually started learning about Daws around late 2006 having used Cubase SX for a little while and then that was officially the end. I closed the door on the music subject”. – Fabrizio.

Fast forward to 2020…

MG’s first single in over 15 years, titled ‘The Breach’, was released on Bandcamp in December 2020.

“The track wasn’t my greatest work. It was my first jab back into producing music after so many years. But the feeling of releasing new music was something else. It felt good.” – Fabrizio.

On September 22nd, 2021, Fabrizio released his first record under his new stage name, Megagltich, titled ‘Endless Echoes‘.

“I was surprised at first that anyone would be interested in listening let alone purchasing the recording. I had no idea what to expect, but again, it just felt good and it felt right.” – Fabrizio.

Megaglitch’s sound can be defined as energetic, dreamy, and occasionally dark. From 2020 to 2023 it was all about experimenting to find a grove that he would be happy with.

His early songs took inspiration from the likes of Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and David Arkenstone to name a few. As well as modern artists like Dynatron, Kavinsky, and Bestrack.

MG creates music using a mixture of classic analog synths and software synth sounds using various VSTs and emulators. He loves nothing more than to spend a few hours designing new sounds from scratch and building a library of presets to use in future projects.
